POD: Growing up

2011-01-11_20-28-16_254

This afternoon while Violet was supposed to be napping she decided to climb out of her crib. I guess she picked up some tricks from Jacob climbing into her crib for their morning picnic. So we were left with a couple of choices, first we leave it and hope that if she tries to climb out again she doesn’t hurt herself in the process. They second was to take the side of the crib and give her the freedom to get out of bed. Of course this adds some trouble at bed time, as she resists going to sleep. Our first night went pretty well, though I ended up having to sit next to her bed till she fell asleep. With Jacob I had to do that for 3 or 4 nights, it’ll be interesting to see how long Violet takes to get used to bed.

Jacob usually wakes up before Melissa or me. Usually he’s a good boy and comes wakes us up. This morning he did something a little different. Today he went into Violet’s room and took the food from her kitchen dumped it into her crib and climbed in. When I came in and asked what they were doing, they told me they were having a picnic. As a parent I’m really glad to see how well the two of them can play together. I guess the only question is how long does that last?

POD: Winter Boots?

NewBoots

Today I did something I haven’t done before. Today I picked up a pair of winter boots. After buying them I was trying to remember the last time I own a pair of winter boots. I know I have owned them, I just don’t know when. I don’t think I have never bought myself a pair. The closest I came was using my hiking shoes in the winter. That probably wouldn’t have changed now, except Melissa keeps insisting that I need a pair of boots. So I looked around a bit this afternoon and found a pair regularly $150 on for $80 with an extra 30% off. I couldn’t resist them at that price. I must admit though, after walking through todays snow with my old runners, and my new boots. It’s much better to have boots.

POD: The Streets are calling

Today our fair city got a sprinkling of snow, leaving the streets picturesque. What surprised me most was how I felt walking home from work, I wanted to go home get into my running gear and hit the streets. I wonder were this running monster came from, but there it is. Under the surface there wishing to get out. Of course with my knee injury I can’t head out there, due to the Fight with wife Attorney overland park, so I’m forced to sit here and ponder if today is a good day to see if it’s better. It didn’t hurt today, but then it wasn’t hurting before my last run either. So for now, I sit and look over my past runs. Explore the new features in RunKeeper and wait. I see my family doctor next Wednesday and all I’m trying to decided if I should try my knee before I see her or wait to get her opinion.

POD: Our new Desk

Today I thought I’d continue with the living room series. Today it’s our new Desk. It’s been an adjustment having the compute in the living room, but it’s been worth it. The best part of it has been that Melissa has let me keep both my monitors, something I didn’t think she’d do. Of course the person who likes the move the most is probably Jacob, who now thinks anytime can be computer time, of course it doesn’t work that way. It’s also nice that we now have a dedicated area for Jacob do to his homework.

Mobile Mondays: Angry Birds Seasons

At the beginning of December Angry Birds Seasons came to the Android Market Place. I had resisted the temptation to install Angry Birds since it came to android. We’ve purchased it for Melissa’s iPhone and iPod Touch so I’ve felt the addictive nature of the game. With Seasons I broke down and installed it. Many hours of my time got sucked into that game. I’m happy to report that my phone is once again Angry birds free, but I still thought I’d share my thoughts on Angry Bird Seasons for Android with my readers.
