Today the Jays did something they haven’t done since I was a teenager. They took moved into first place in the America League East. Sure, it’s early. There is still almost 50 games left in the season and they will have to play well to stay there. But it was only 2 weeks ago that they were 8 games back and it was hard not to feel like they were headed for anther disappointing season. Oh what a different a week makes. Go Jays Go..
Tonight we headed out to Jacob’s soccer game in the pouring rain. It cleared up a bit about half way through, but not before my little man was socked.
Today at Jacob’s Soccer practice Violet took an interest in the Long Jump Pit at the field. Usually she just plays in it like a sand box, but today she charged down the track and jumped like an athlete. And she didn’t just do it once, it was more like 5 or 6 times.
Today I headed to the local outdoor pool with the kids for some swimming fun. After swimming around a bit it Jacob insisted that we shouldn’t leave till Violet had at least tried the deep end test. Violet wasn’t interested in going to the deep end, but agreed to do the test. A test she passed, even with the addition of a minute treading water. Of course after that we spent most of our time in the deep end. I was so proud of her. of course I’m also amused by the fact that though I have the freedom to head to the deep end I don’t think I could past the tests the kids have to.
Well After using that great picture of Violet on a breakaway yesterday I thought today I should use this one of Jacob at Soccer tonight. His team was short of players today, so they had no subs. Even with a tied squad they won the match 7-4.
Today at Taekwondo Jacob eared his third stripe. So now he’s ready to take the test to get his While and Yellow belt. We’re all so proud of him, but especially violet. She was so proud she insisted on being in the picture.
Well the summer 3 on 3 season continues. Today I have a picture of Violet as she worked on her drills.
I know that summer officially started last week, but today there were to little events that really marked the beginning of summer for our little family. The first was the kids had now school. Today was their first day of Summer vacation. The second was the local outdoor pool opened for the first time of the year. I’m happy to say we were there to enjoy the first family swim of the year, it seems to be becoming a tradition (POD: Going for a Ride with Jacob)
Today was Jacob’s soccer night, and as I sat in the rain watching him I realized how proud I am. He goes out every game and tries hard. He really seems to like soccer, even with the other team kids him in the knee while going for the ball.
Today was the final day for Violet’s ball hockey. The 10 weeks have just flown by. Violet’s age group was more about skills development the games, so there was no Champions, but each team got to pose with the EMBHL Trophy. I wonder where they inspiration for the trophy design came from.
