Project 365-016: First BBQ of the Year

DSC_0884Tonight I fired up the BBQ and cooked up some chicken breasts. I probably should have pulled out steaks for the occasion, after all its not every day you BBQ in January, but the chicken was defrosted in the fridge. It was a great night for BBQing, I didn’t even need my Jacket when I went out to check on the food.

Melissa was out at a friends working on decoration and treats for Violet’s birthday leaving me and Jacob to fend for ourselves. So I invited my mom and niece over and made Grilled Chicken, Pirogues and Caesar salad for dinner. Though just Jacob and I had the Chicken.  Then we watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. An enjoyable little evening.

Project 365-015: Getting Dressed

IMG_2010

This is what happens when you send a 3 year old to dress himself. We were having a lounging around in PJs sort of a day, everyone was getting over being sick. Jacob wanted to build his Train Crazy Fort and I thought I would take some pictures for my Photo of the day. So not wanting him to be in his PJs I asked him to go up and get dressed. Now I was a little curious to see what he’d choose to put on, I don’t really know what I expected. What he chose was a cute little outfit. Though the shirt was inside-out and backwards and the pants were just backwards. I was impressed. Of course when I saw how he was dressed I new what I’d be using for my picture and once again forgot to get pictures of the Train Crazy Fort.

Project 365-014: Sickness

IMG_1995

Today wasn’t a good day in our house. It started 2 nights ago when Violet threw up in her bed, repeatedly.  It seemed like it would be better after she was fin all day but then while she was sitting in the high chair, up came her last bottle and probably everything she had that afternoon. So we got her squared away and we were just hopping that Jacob wouldn’t get what ever it was making Violet sick. Of course that hope was dashed a couple hours after he went to bed. It was a long night, I’m not sure how many bed sheets we went through, but it seemed like a lot.

I probably would have gone to work, except in the morning he was unable to keep down even water, so I stayed home to help out. Jacob spent the morning sleeping and the afternoon lounging. Violet seemed ok, not great, but there was no throw up so that was a plus. To be fair Jacob didn’t through up again after his morning scare. It was a long day. To make it more fun both Melissa and I spent the day feeling sick. Though we both managed to keep from throwing up. For me the key to that was the subject of tonight’s picture.  Here is hoping that every one has a better night.

Project 365-013: Skating with Jacob

2010-01-13 002 2010-01-13 029

Tonight was Jacob’s second skating lesson of 2010, the second time he laced up at Long Branch Centennial Arena. What set tonight apart from other skating lessons is that I strapped on skates and got on the Ice with Jacob and Danny. It was an interesting experience then watching from the sidelines. I had hoped to get better shots being one the ice, but It didn’t work out which is why today’s picture is of the arenas sign.

Two things became quite clear to me watching Jacob skate tonight, the first is he’s really getting it. He spent almost the entire lesson skating skating on his own. He still needs to get the confidence to stand up on his own, but he’s close. Second if I don’t get on the ice more he’ll be a better skater then me by the end of this session of lessons.

Project 365-012: Sleeping Boy

Day 12

Tonight when I peaked in on Jacob to make sure that he was sleeping soundly. As I looked down at my sleeping boy I wondered how he was comfortable sprawled out like that. He’s growing so fast, it seems like just yesterday that he first slept in his big boy bed. A bed he looked so small in last December when he first slept in it. Now he looks like a little boy in his little boy bed. I’m now even thinking it’s time to take off the Side bar from his bed.

Project 365-011: Exposed TTC (Updated)

Inside an automatic Door

Today’s Picture didn’t turn out as clear as I hopped when I snapped it. I was waiting for a bus at a TTC Station and workings were installing components for new automated doors. I thought seeing the inner workings would make an interesting picture. The Picture is still interesting just not clear. It makes me wish I was caring around a real camera and not just the crappy on on the cell phone. Perhaps my next phone will have a better camera.

Fun Trivia for my Toronto based readers. What station was I at?

Project 365-008: Duelling Addictions

DuellingAddictions Tonight I decided to take a picture of two sides of my biggest vice. I drink way to much pop, I’ve moved to diet but I don’t think that’s really better for me. To make it worse Pepsi has introduced Pepsi Max, with more Caffeine and Ginseng turning me from my traditional Coke. It seems wrong that the drink I choose first now is Pepsi, but it is. Of course I really should be cutting back my caffeine and Pepsi Max is definitely not the way to do that. Oh well we’re all allowed one vice, aren’t we?

Project 365-007: An Evening With Trains

Trains 2010-01-07 002

Today while sitting downstairs I heard a little voice call, ‘Daddy I need your help’. So I went up to see what my little guy wanted. He wanted to do his train set in a different way, using the Firehouse.  So I spent an enjoy able evening with my son playing trains. We used a lot of the pieces he got for Christmas to put his track together in a way similar to how it looked on the box, but with our own touches. It’s a great way to spend an evening. The train table is one of Jacob’s favourite toys, it can be The Island of  Sodor when he’s playing Thomas and Friends, or its the track to the North Pole when he’s playing Polar Express. It’s a lot of fun for Jacob, Me and even Violet who likes to stand at the side and grab trains.

Project 365-006: Playground in Winter

Day 6 On my way to work this morning I was waiting for the bus and looked into the park and thought it look so different with the layer of snow over it. It seemed like a perfect shot for today’s Picture. I had other options for pictures for day, I took a couple of nice ones at Skating tonight, but there is something about this one that I thought I should share. It’s just different then the ones I have been using so far this week. So far I’m really enjoying the challenge of snapping a picture every day.

I know that I haven’t really been blogging this week, just posting my Project 365 images, the reason for this is simple. I’m trying to get the hang of this Project 365 thing and have been taking a bit of a break from regular blogging. That brake will be ending in the next couple of days, I’m not sure if it will be tomorrow, monday or something in between but it is coming. I will go back to regular posts on top of the Project 365, so stay tuned.
