Today Jacob got to spend the day with his Nan. A morning at church and an afternoon of lunch and fun for the two of them. I thought it was nice because before Violet the two of them used to go on lots of adventures, so it was nice that they could have one today. When Violet and I went to pick him up the two kids lounged on the couch while I looked over my moms computer, I couldn’t help but snap a couple of pictures.

Project 365-202: Vacation Beer Tastes Sweeter
Beer is not something I usually have in my house, but today I made a special trip to the Beer store to pick up a six-pack so I could enough an evening beer at home during my vacation. The hardest part was standing at the beer store looking at the wall of beer trying to decided what to get. In the end I got my choice down to two different Mill Street beers, The Tank House or the Coffee Porter. As you can see I went with the Tank House.
Project 365-201: Watching the Clock
I like my Job, on most days I find the work challenging and often find that the end of the day comes without me realising it. Either my boss will call on the intercom and ask if I’m wrapping up, or Melissa will IM me and ask if I’m heading home soon. But today, though the project I’m working on is fun and challenging I found myself looking at the clock. Wishing the minutes would go by faster. See today was my last day of work before my vacation. Sure it’s only a week off and we’re not going anywhere exciting, but I’m really looking forward to spending a the time with Melissa and the kids. After all everything is changing, Jacob starts school in just over a month and Violet just keeps growing up, learning new works and getting into new mischief. Its time I want with the family. We will be doing things during our vacation, visiting friends and family, perhaps a trip to the island or maybe Ontario Place. Maybe even take a family ride over to high park for a day of picnicking and family fun. We may only have 10 days, but we’ll make the most of them.
Project 365-200: The View from up high
Project 365-199: Listening to the Instructor?
Today’s skating lesson was a mixed bag. At times Jacob seemed to listen to the instructors and his skating has really sped up. Though at times he still skated off on his own, and didn’t listen when the instructors tried to get him back with the group. I just have to keep telling myself, he’s only 4 and he is getting better. We just need to get him to focus a little better.
Project 365-197: One of the Perks of Riding to work
Today was the second day that I cycled to work, it has always seemed like a daunting task, because the trip seems like it’s entirely up hill. It’s a gradual slop most of the time, but except for a few place on the ride home I’m heading up hill. Of course that means the ride home is mostly down hill, so it kind of evens out. One nice thing about the ride home is I can take the Humber trail, it adds about 2 km to the trip if I follow it the entire way to the Lakeshore, but it’s a much more picturesque route.
Project 365-196:Tacos
One of the Jacob’s favorite meals is tacos, I think it’s because we let him put them together himself. A week doesn’t go by when he doesn’t ask for them. Of course we don’t have them every week, so when we do it’s still kinda special. Tonight was one of those nights. Of course as I look over the picture I am reminded that food rarely looks as good in the picture as in real life.
Project 365-195: Chasing the Ducks
Today we packed up the kids, a couple of coolers, and headed out to the Toronto Island for a picnic with friends. The kids seemed to like the ferry ride. When we got to the island we found some picnic tables and BBQ’d up some hot dogs. After the food the kids had some fun chasing the growing number of ducks around our picnic tables. It was good fun for the little ones. In our picture of the day, Jacob is telling Sofia and Violet not to chase the birds. Then he runs past them after the birds. In a day of great moments and with over 500 pictures on the two camera’s Melissa and I brought, this stood out as a great choice for Picture of the day. There is a lot more I could say about our day, including our brief trip to Centre Ville but that’ll have to wait. I’ll see about putting together something more with more of the photos in the next couple of days… Of course I should probably write-up last week picnic first. Perhaps tomorrow I’ll get a chance to catch up on some of my blogging.
Project 365-194: Good Food, Bad Chair?
Tonight we went for dinner at Montana’s, a restaurant we go to regularly. One we think of as Nut free, except for the Ice Cream. But now we find ourselves questioning that. See when we got home Violet had to large welts on her legs. Now they could have come from the shopping cart at either Costco or Sobeys. Of course during dinner she was acting a little uncomfortable in her chair, so much so we thought she might have a full diaper but changing that didn’t seem to help. So we’re left wondering what caused the welts and how to protect out little cupcake in the future. The minimum I think is that we’re going to have to start cleaning off any chairs or carts, probably with something stronger than our diaper wipes…
Project 365-193: Running Belt.
On a night where my run was filled with little complications, from a light rain to failure of my run tracking software it seems only fitting that I showcase one of the things that didn’t go wrong tonight. My running belt with water bottle and MP3/Cell phone pocket. Melissa got this for me for my birthday, when it became clear that I would be taking up running for real. It’s served me well but unless I can get some software to give me all audio updates I think I’ll be looking for an alternative place to store my phone.
