Project 365-252: Braving the Supermarket

Today my picture is once again of the kids. I took in on a trip with just me and them to the supermarket. We were picking up a few needed things, like Milk and Diapers. It can be a challenge going places with the just me and the two of them, though today was pretty good. Except for Jacob wanting to get cookies and yogurt drinks. Plus by the time we were wrapping up our shopping Violet didn’t want to stay in the cart, she wanted to walk and run. Usually away from Jacob and me. Of course with all the challenges, its moments like these that I really enjoy as a father.

Project 365-251: A prelude of things to come

Today was Jacobs First day of kindergarten, though not a normal day. Today was part of the staggered start they use for kids just starting at school, only 5 of the 25 other students from his class was there today. Next Monday will be his second first day, on that day he will have his full class and mommy and daddy wont be going into the classroom to make sure everything is ok. I’ll be writing more about our little guys starting of school in the coming days, but for now deadlines at work are monopolizing my evening.

Project 365-250: An odd sight

image

I took my picture of the day as I was walking to the subway near my work. It seemed an odd sight. A kids wagon, locked up like a bike. It’s just not something that I’d seen before, so I snapped a picture. Of course as I think about it now I realize that it makes sence.  After all you might not want to bring your wagon inside, so why not lock them up. I wonder if I should start bringing my bicycle lock with me when I take the kids to local stores in the wagon?

Today Jacob and I headed down to the CNE, just the two of us. With Melissa working, we dropped Violet off at Nana’s house (We also picked up the free passes she had one. Thanks Nana). The plan was to give Jacob a day at the Ex that he could do what he wanted, and not have to worry about anyone else. And I think we accomplished that. Our focus was rides, and I don’t think there was any there that he wanted to ride that we didn’t get on.

The one downside to the day was the rain, though even that was a bit of a blessing. With it raining on and off most of the morning the lines for the kids rides were very short. So there wasn’t much waiting. Jacob didn’t like to wait, we would want to go to another ride if the line was too long. Though I did manage to show him that most of the lines moved pretty quickly. It was very nice in the afternoon that the sun came out and we were able to put the jackets way.

It was a great day, and I’m really glad I got to spend the day with just Jacob. In just a few days he starts kindergarten and everything changes. I have to grab on to this time and enjoy it because it wont last long.

Project 365-248: Playtime Reading

DSC_0077

Today was a great day, I spent most of it with just me and the kids. It was nice to spend time with them. From colouring at the little table to rebuilding Jacob’s train set it was a great day. At one time while Jacob and I were playing with his Crane and Trains Violet climbed onto the bed and tried to read one of Jacob’s Clifford books. I couldn’t help but snap a few pictures. She choose her sleeper from her drawer. She pulled it out while we were playing in her room and brought it over to me. She was quite insistent that I put it on her. It’s a little big on her.

Project 365-245: Choosing his own Shirts

Today Melissa took the kids to Sherway to pickup some clothes. One of the things we needed was some short-sleeved shirts for Jacob, most of his school clothes are long-sleeved and with the warm weather we’re having we thought it would be a good idea to have some for when Jacob starts school next week. The interesting thing about these shirts is that Jacob choice them from a bunch of options at Sporting Life. I can’t believe that in less than a week and he’ll be in school. Where does the time go?

For quite a while we’ve been hearing talk about a local playground being removed to put in a Skate Park.  We didn’t support the development, we liked the playground and felt the site was to small for a skate park. The last I had heard about it was that they were going to use some of the empty land across the street for the skate park, but today crews came and began dismantling the playground. I had hopped to get a picture of them during the dismantling but I didn’t get there in time, so all I have is what’s left.
