Today Jacob’s season of hockey started with a practice. It was great to watch how hard he tried for the entire hour of the practice. Today we just had Jacob’s practice at 12:30. Next week both kids will have their first games, and we’re going to find ourselves spending a lot of our Saturdays at the rink, some day’s starting as early as 7:30am.
This week Lynn and Dan came by and transformed our bedroom from a place to sleep to a room for use to share. From mounting our TV to the wall and hanging some of our art, it just looks so much nicer now. Thanks Lynn and Dan for all your help. We surprised Melissa completely with the room and she loves the changes as much as I do.
Today was curriculum night at the kid’s school. So while there I took pictures of all of Violet’s artwork that was one the wall.
LAst night I shared a picture of Melissa’s surprise for the kids, tonight I thought I’d share their lunches complete with sunrises.
Today Melissa put together a little surprise for the kids. I’m going to slip them in their lunch boxes in the morning for them to find when they pull it out at lunch.
Today we have another lunch picture. It seems with the start of the new school year the kids lunches are becoming my go to picture on the days that I’m missing a picture as the day winds down. I find it strange how much I’m enjoying putting the kids lunches together. Last year it was a chore to do each morning, but this year it’s different somehow. I’m not sure if it’s all the extra planning Melissa and I are doing or the challenge of finding healthy and interesting lunches the kids will enjoy. All I know is that each morning as I take a picture of the kids lunches to send to Melissa, I feel a sense of pride. It’s not the easiest time but we’re a family and we’re working as a team even when Melissa can’t be here.
Today was a relaxing day, I wasn’t really up for a lot after yesterday’s run. So some shopping and a trip to the Lego store was about all we did. It amused me to watch how differently the kids reacted in the Lego store. Violet went right to the table where she could build. While Jacob started looking over the sets looking for different ones that he wants. I got pictures of them both and put them together for today’s Picture of the day.
Today Violet laced up her skates and hit the ice for her Tyke hockey try outs. It was amazing to see her skating. It’s going to be an exciting hockey season, watching both Jacob and Violet play every week.
Tomorrow is the Oasis Zoo Run and both kids are participating in the Cub. It will be a fun day of for our family, though without Melissa it will be bitter-sweet. I’m running the 10k that has a 8:15am. I’ve not been running as much as I should before such a big run, so I’m not sure how fast I can run tomorrow but you’ll be able to watch on my run keeper page.
This evening we have a picture highlight two of Violet’s favourite activities. After ballet Nana and Papa finished getting together Violet’s hockey equipment for her Tyke Hockey tryout this weekend. It makes me smile to see how easily she goes from ballerina to hockey player. I can’t wait to see her on the ice.
