Even on the coldest days of the year, it sometimes helps to think of the warmer days. To help with that both Melissa and I recently picked up new flip-flops. I know it could be a long time till we wear them, but then again it could be just around the corner.

School is back and with it each morning the kids need lunches. So today I put together what we call a tray lunch, and packed it up. Their lunch boxes came back empty so I guess they liked it.

The other day I was cleaning out the medicine cabinet and I found this bottle of Sun Block. It made me think of warmer days, and how far away them seem. Of course you can never be to sure what the near future holds.

Today Melissa and Violet made some banana bread, it was fun to watch the two of them bake. I find it funny how much Violet wanted to help, but when it was time taste the finished product she didn’t have any. Still the rest of the family really enjoyed our pieces of Banana Bread.

Today was our first day of Hockey in the new year. Both kids were excited to be back, and I was too. Mostly, I wasn’t a fan of the 8:50 start for Jacob’s game. Of course it could have been worse. He has some 7am games coming up. Ever since Jacob took to the ice for his first game 2 and a half years ago, I’ve been amazed by home much he improved week to week. With Violet its seems like that process has been accelerated, I can’t wait to see how well she’ll be doing as the season comes to an end in a few months. It really is a joy to head to the rink each week to watch how hard they try and how much they improve. Our picture of the day is of Melissa talking to Violet before the game.

Today after dinner and dishes all Violet wanted to do was make something with the Kraft Dinner box. So out came one of our jugs of crafting supplies and she went to work. I didn’t get any pictures of the process today but I did get one of her final creation. Well not final, she never added the hair she wanted. Perhaps tomorrow she’ll get a chance to do that.

Violet loves doing dishes. Over the last week she’s been asking to do them pretty much everyday. Tonight after dinner was no exception, but This time Jacob said he wanted to do them. So they started arguing our who should be allowed to. I suggested that one should was and the other one dry, this didn’t appeal to them. They both wanted to wash and so they started argue g about who washes and who would dry. Just as I was about to step in and break it up, I heard Jacob suggest they take turns. It took a minute for Violet to a agree but before I knew it they work working away together. Taking turns. So of course I took pictures for today’s picture of the Day.

Last night Violet slept at her god mothers house, in hopes that she’d be spared the illness that is running rampant through our little family. At 6 am this morning I got the call that she hadn’t been spared. It seems my little girl had thrown up and need her Mommy. Well at 6am, she got her Daddy, and even though she insisted that she wasn’t sick she spent most of the morning sleeping, just like her mommy. I captured today’s picture of the day as I drove home with her. I wanted to catch the sunrise, but I don’t really think I did.
Once again a new year is approaching and my little man has fallen asleep before it arrives. We were going to have our usual family celebration, but with Jacob, Melissa and I all feeling sick we are having a low-key night. Violet has gone to her God Mothers house for the night and Melissa headed up to bed. Leaving the boys to celebrate the New Year together. Well It seems that I’ll be celebrating alone after all.
Today we headed to St Joseph Hospital for Jacob’s asthma clinic appointment. It was a standard checkup and he’s doing pretty well, if you don’t count that he’s been under the weather. I captured this picture of Violet on the way back.
