Today my little Angel turned 5. So in the morning we had a special birthday breakfast and opened a few of her gifts. Thanks Nan, Violet loves the Arts set and can’t wait to try the video game. Thanks Tom and Ange she loves the purse and is looking forward to wearing a tatoo to school tomorrow. After dinner Nana came over with some cupcakes and she opened her present from Nana and Papa. I can’t wait to see her in her new Doc McStuffins rain gear. I hope she had a great day, though I can’t help but be said that my baby girl is just a little more grown up. I love you Violet, and Happy Birthday.

Today we have a collage from Hockey Practice at the MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence. On the right is Jacob’s practice, the left is the Toronto Maple Leafs. The kids usually practice early on Sundays, but today the Leafs wanted to practice before heading on their western road trip so the practice got moved to Rink 3 at 10:30am. When we arrived the Leafs were still practicing so I took a few pictures before taking Jacob in to get ready for his practice.
Today we have a picture of Jacob Watching Violets Hockey game.

Today we have a picture of Violets Lego creation. When she built-in she was so proud of it. She even covered it up so that she could surprise Nana with it It was so cute I thought that I would use it for today’s picture of the day.

As the Maple Leafs begin their annual mid-season dive in the standings, my thoughts turn to warmer weather and baseball. So today as I was driving along the Gardiner I snapped a picture of the Skydome Rogers Centre and wondered about when spring training will begin. Turns out it’s about a month away, the Blue Jays first practice is February 17th. Last year was a disappointing season, and even though they haven’t addressed any of their issues, I’m still hopeful that this will be the year that we have meaningful baseball in Toronto in September. Of course I also think the Maple Leafs will make the playoffs so I might be delusional.

If you would have told me last week that I’d be firing up the grill today, I’d have laughed in your face. So tonight when I got home from work I headed out and grilled up a couple of pork chops for the family for dinner, I had to capture it. The weather has been so extreme this January, but I’ll take advantage of the warmer days when I can. I’m not sure if I’ll have a chance to fire up the old BBQ before spring.
Today Melissa tried her had at making a beef stew in our crock pot. After spending the day with the smell of the stew filling the House I finally got to taste it at dinner, All I can say is that it was delicious, I’m so glad Melissa decided to make it today. Of course I could only manage to eat a bit more then a bowl before I was stuffed. Of course there is always tomorrow dinner.

It’s Saturday and that means hockey pictures. Today we have a picture of Violet taking the faceoff during her game today. I love watching her play hockey, she gives it her all from the puck drop till the final buzzer. Today was no exception.

For dinner tonight I had an Egg White omelet, with Onions, Mushrooms and mozzarella cheese. Of course I had some Snap Peas, because as I tell the kids you always need to eat your vegetables.

Jacob loves Lego, and for Christmas he got a few sets. Last night he opened up his first big set, the LEGO Legends of Chima The Lion CHI Temple. I love watching how excited he gets as he builds each part. I’m loving the time we spend together working on Lego, and with over 1200 pieces it’s going to take us a few days to build it all.
