One of the challenges with taking and posting a picture every day is that some days you just don’t take any pictures. Today was like that, in the past I would take some random thing in the house, a piece of tech or kids drawing, but today I’ve decided to do something different. Today I’ve decided to go back into my archives and choose a picture that I took on this day, February 5, 2016. When going through my photos I found this picture of a tree covered with lights. It was taken outside the Living Arts centre in Mississauga after the kid’s Taekwondo classes. I’m supprised I hadn’t shared it before.
Today we have a picture of our mischievous cat. We caught this shot of her in one of Violet’s drawers. As cute as it is it probably wouldn’t have been my POD if it was for the fact that she opened it herself, so that she could sit in it.
Today I return to my blog. I’ve wanted to return to blogging for a while, but I just never seem to have the time. Sure January 1st seems like the more traditional time to reboot my blog, but it didn’t work for me this year. Besides resolutions never seem to work, and starting on January first would have felt like a resolution. I know that once you I get back into the rhythm of posting I can keep it up. I managed to post a Picture a day for over 5 years. I can do it again.
So why February 1st? Well, there are only 28 days in February. If I can post a picture each day for just 28 days I have hit my first month. It might be a silly reason, but I want to get back to posting and have any reason to start helps. Beyond that, I liked it starting on a Friday, weekends are easier for pictures, even if we have no hockey games this weekend. Plus it gives me a few days to write my post for Monday.
So what does my return to blogging look like? I don’t know yet. First will be the posting of my picture of the day, starting tonight I will share a photo each day. Beyond that, I am planning to write some posts about different things that interest me. My goal is to post 3 a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Of course, the writing will depend on me finding the time to write, but I’m hoping that with a little bit of effort I’ll be able to get back into it. That is if I can focus on actually writing and not redesigning the look of my bog.
So stay tuned, you should be seeing a lot of new things here in the coming weeks.

This summer we planted our first Rose bush in our little flower garden. Back in June when the first flowers bloomed it was great. When they blew away I thought we were done for the year, but looked forward till next summer when we’d have new roses to admire. So I was surprised this week when I saw new flowers starting to bloom on our little Rosebush.

This spring Jacob took an art course after school, today was art show day. So I thought I’d share this collage I made from some picture of the event. It’s amazing what he can do when he takes his time and concentrates.

It seems our Elf on a Shelf was inspired by the kids time playing in the snow. With marshmallows and tooth picks he built is own ‘igloo’. Though it seems he ran out of marshmallows before he could finish.

After a weekend with 2 hockey games and a practice, we started the week off right back at the rink. She just can’t get enough time on the ice.

Tim Hortons Smile cookies have returned so today after school the kids had a special treat.

Today is the first day of September, and though the calendar says there are three more weeks of summer, everyone knows that it’s really only five more days. Ever since I started school Labour Day has marked the true end of summer and the beginning of the new year. As much as we celebrate January 1st, it’s really the first Monday of September that the new year begins. I used to think that when I was done with school that it would change, that Labour Day would be just another holiday, but it hasn’t. Even before I had kids of my own, it still marked a change of seasons. Work seems to pickup after slowing down while people were away during the summer. Now that I have kids, it’s back to being a major event. We go from a summer of a different schedule every week to the fixed schedule of the school year, and the return of our winder activities.
With all that change we are already facing in September I’ve asked myself, if I want to make some personal resolutions, why should I wait till January, why not start now. September brings more changes to my life than January why not add a few more. So today is my resolution day. Today I start some changes in my life.

Yesterday Jacob’s team faced an elimination game. After loosing the first playoff game, they needed to win to force a third and deciding game. I’m happy to say they won.
