Today was long day with lots of different things happening, from Christmas dinner with my family to decorating cookies with the kids. I should use a picture from the family dinner but this Auto Awesome of Violet decorating cookies is just so cool

As the weather turns cold I find myself thinking back over the summer and all the great things we did. I then go back through my blog and find that I didn’t really write about most of them. I would take a picture of the day, and share it. Maybe a collage with 4 or 5 pictures. Today I will start my series of posts where I go back and write about some of the summers more memorable events.

November wad National Novel Writing Month. A challenge to write 50000 words in 30 days. It’s a challenge I took on hoping to complete it and well I failed. I’m not proud of it, but it’s the truth. I thought I cod find an hour or two each day to write, but as the month started it quickly became clear that I didn’t have the drive to succeed. First I couldn’t write the novel I had planned to. I tried but the words weren’t there. So a week in to November I had just over 1000 words and no story to tell. I drifted about trying different perspectives on my tail. Trying to find one that would inspire me. Finally I did., I rebooted the story as a journal told by the hero. It worked I found the words, well almost found them. I found them at my weekly escapes to Starbucks with Melissa. While sitting there drinking coffee and spending some time with Melissa the words flowed. When I tried at night, while sitting at my computer at home they didn’t. So as the month ended I found I had only wrote close to 25,000 words.
My writing wasn’t the only thing I let slide while I tried to write. One was my blog and the other is my personal programming project. I hope to put them both right in December. As of today, I’m going to blog everyday. Not just my Picture of the Day, a real post. Something longer. Something interesting. To help motivate me I’ve once again joined Holidailies. I’m still working out how I’ll fit in all this extra blogging, but I’m confident I can do it. As for my programming project, it’s something I’ve been working on now for over a year in its current form. Though at its heart it’s something I’ve been working on for much longer than that. I’m not ready to talk about it, but I hope to use one of my December posts to introduce it to the world.
Only time will tell if I’m successful with these new goals, already I’m falling a little short of what I envisioned for this post, but December is a long month I hope by the end of it to be into the swing of real blog writing again. So stay tuned.
Today after everyone else was in bed I sat down to try something new. Something for the season, a Pumpkin Ale. It’s got a nice hit of pumpkin spice. I think I’ll have to pick up another bottle or two before the season for pumpkin beer ends.
This afternoon I found myself wondering around College and Spadina, so I went to check out the Merril Collection at the Lillian H. Smith branch of the Toronto Public Library. As I was leaving the library I noticed the owl on the wall, I thought Violet would like it so I snapped a picture for my picture of the day.
Tonight the kids went to the Lakeshore Mardi Gras with their Nana and Papa. When they returned they each had a new stuffy. I thought it might be fun to take a picture of their new stuffies for today’s picture of the day.
Today the family heads out for our summer vacation, and for the first time since I started my picture of the day I’m not sure I I will he able to post every day this week. I’m not sure if I’ll have Internet, I’m sure I’ll have lots of pictures to choose from each day just not sure when I’ll have a chance to share them. I’ll backdate my posts if I have to.

Tonight I went to check on a sleeping Violet, well she was supposed to be sleeping. What I found was her playing with her magnetic doll and signing songs.
Today was Violet’s Ballet picture day and it was the first time that Melissa got to see her in her costumes. Last year she only had one costume (POD: Ballet Pictures), but his year she’s performing in both Ballet and Tap so there are two costumes. The only thing I didn’t like is that I wasn’t at Ballet today so I’ve only seen her in costume in the pictures Melissa took.
Friday night is swimming night, and today I decided to capture it a little differently. Thanks to Google’s new Auto Awesome, the pictures I took at the pool have been made into this cool animation.
