Today Jacob took to the stage with his guitar for the first time. He was nervous, and to compound that he broke a string on his guitar while tuning it before the show. After a quick talk with his music teach he’d arranged to use one of his guitars and was all set. He performed great, but don’t take my word for it.

Today we headed down to the World Cup Fan Village so that Violet and her DS team could play some hockey and pose with both the World Cup and even the Stanley Cup.

Today Violet brought home her first home work. She’s supposed to bring in different things that represents her and present them to the class. So this evening we watched as she put it all together, and I just had to capture it for today’s picture of the day. Of course there was to many things to include them all in the picture, but I think I captured the most important ones.

Today the kids headed off to their first day of school. They both had a great day, seeing there friends and meeting there new teachers. I can’t believe that Jacob is in grade 5 and Violet is in 2nd. Where did the time go. This could also be the last first day of school at St. Teresa’s school. We’re hoping their new school will be finished in time for next year.

Today was our annual trip to the Canadian National Exhibition. It was a beautiful day for it. Not a cloud in the sky , but it was never too hot. We spent most of the day waiting in lines so that the kids could go on the different rides. It was an amazing day.

Today is the first day of September, and though the calendar says there are three more weeks of summer, everyone knows that it’s really only five more days. Ever since I started school Labour Day has marked the true end of summer and the beginning of the new year. As much as we celebrate January 1st, it’s really the first Monday of September that the new year begins. I used to think that when I was done with school that it would change, that Labour Day would be just another holiday, but it hasn’t. Even before I had kids of my own, it still marked a change of seasons. Work seems to pickup after slowing down while people were away during the summer. Now that I have kids, it’s back to being a major event. We go from a summer of a different schedule every week to the fixed schedule of the school year, and the return of our winder activities.

With all that change we are already facing in September I’ve asked myself, if I want to make some personal resolutions, why should I wait till January, why not start now. September brings more changes to my life than January why not add a few more. So today is my resolution day. Today I start some changes in my life.

The ninth is Jacob’s birthday, but he’s going to a Blue jays game with his Nan so we celebrated the night before at his favourite restaurant.

Sunday’s has become Field Lacrosse day for Violet so you can expect to see many more Lacrosse pictures over the summer.

Yesterday I took a longer than normal lunch hour, that included dropping Melissa off at work. So while driving back to my office I couldn’t help myself. I had to stop at Vesta Lunch (Read about it here), my goto place for a late night / early morning snack during my misspent youth. I have to say I wasn’t disappointed.
