From Picture of the Day 2013

Today on the way home from swimming I gave the kids the iPad to entertain them during the ride home. Seeing their faces illuminated by the glow of the iPad, I knew I had to capture the moment.

Ever since Violet’s unscheduled hair cut last fall (see here) we’ve missed being able to braid Violet’s here. Well it’s not much of one but it looks like we can braid it again.

Today Jacob had his Beavers Investiture, it was fun to watch him get his badges. Unfortunately they didn’t have enough scarfs so he’ll have to wait to get it. He seemed so excited to get his badge and scarfs clip.

Once again the day runs out without a picture, so I have today’s lunch for the kids. I decided to go against my first thought of sending them off to school with a lunch box full of Turkey left overs.

Today we thought it would be a good day to show our kids that it’s good to think about others. So we picked up some flowers and took them to the some of Melissa’s friends who were unable to go home to see family during this thanksgiving weekend.

Today we celebrated a small family thanksgiving dinner. It was nice to be able to sit down just our little family and celebrate the many things we are thankful for. It’s been a hard year but with each passing day it’s getting easier. I also want to take this opportunity to say Thank You to all our friends and family who didn’t celebrate with us today how much their love and support has meant to us and that we are thankful for all of you.

Today our family made a Pumpkin Pie and some Pumpkin Tarts. It was fun backing as a family even if the kids wont eat pumpkin pie. Of course the real test will be tomorrow during our small thanksgiving dinner.  All I can say is I’m glad we made the tarts, because I don’t think one pie would have lasted till tomorrow.

For weeks Jacob has been asking me to hak the Wii so he could play Newer Super Mario Bros. Today I finally did, first with our old Wii and then on the main one. It was a simple process and he was so happy once it was done. I have to say I’m quite impressed by how well done Newer Super Mario Bros is. It could almost be from Nintendo.  Of course now I want to explore the other possibilities I have with the Wii now that we have the Home Brew channel.

Today was the last day of school before Thanksgiving so Violet brought how her Turkey. I have to say It’s great to have a kindergartener again. I missed all the art that Jacob brought home when he was in kindergarten.

Today while Jacob was working on his homework, Violet joined him and worked on her writing. Most of the words are her writing, just the two circled ones were written by her Nan as examples.  I’m so impressed with how much my little girls writing has improved over the last few weeks.
