Remembering Summer: Jacob’s Birthday

As the weather turns cold I find myself thinking back over the summer and all the great things we did. I then go back through my blog and find that I didn’t really write about most of them. I would take a picture of the day, and share it. Maybe a collage with 4 or 5 pictures. Today I will start my series of posts where I go back and write about some of the summers more memorable events.

POD: Watching Candy Canes Grow

From Picture of the Day 2013

This morning we came down stairs to find Jingles sitting on the table watching the bowl of sugar we planted the Magic beans in last night. Of course it wasn’t just a bowl of sugar anymore, each of the magic beans had sprouted out to a full candy cane.  The kids were so excited to see them this morning. I wonder what other surprises our little Jingles has in store for us in two weeks till Christmas.

Today the family headed to Christmas Town, for an evening of Christmas activities complete with a visit with Mr and Misses Clause. It was a great experience. The kids loved all the different activities, from the cookie decorating to touring the Rain Deer flight academy. It was capped off with the most wonderful visit with the Santa and his wife.

Today was a busy day, it started with our local Santa Clause parade, where Jacob got to ride on a float with his Beaver Scout Troop. After the parade we had errands to run before heading to the Mastercard Centre for Hockey Excellence for Violet’s hockey game. Then it was off to Shereway Mall for the Santa Experience where the kids got to spend a half hour with Santa listening to stories and singing songs. We capped the day off with Dinner with friends. It was a long day with lots of pictures, but this of Jacob and Violet with Santa captures it’s spirit.

Today Jingles surprised the kids with a letter and some ‘Magic Beans’. The kids are to plant them into a bowl of sugar and the next morning something wonderful and magical will grow. Unfortunately we didn’t plant them tonight so you’ll have to wait a couple of days before seeing what grows.  As I look at today’s picture I think that this month is in danger of becoming the month of Jingles,. Of course know all the exciting things we have planned in the coming days and weeks I can promise that this will not be the month of Jingles. Though I will be taking a picture of Jingles each day and posting them to my Flickr account (Link will be here when I’ve set it up).

POD: Gone Fishing?

From Picture of the Day 2013

Last year little Jingles tried to catch our fish (POD: Fishing Elf), this year we don’t have a fish, but seem that Jingles still wanted to fish. At least this year the kids thought that the fish he’s trying to catch were cute. This year Violet made no attempt to steal the fishing rod from Jingles, though I’m not so sure about the fishes.

Well it seems eating our cookies wasn’t enough for our little Jingles. This morning we came downstairs to find that he’d toilet papered our Christmas tree. Violet loved it and I think she wants to keep it on the tree for the entire christmas season. Jacob wasn’t as impressed and wants to write a letter to Santa, he thinks Jingles should be put on the naughty chair.  I’m starting to worry what our little Elf will do next.
