Todays picture of the day is of Violet and Jacob riding their scooters to school through the fall leaves. I love the mornings when we can walk to school as a family.

Dear Jacob
My little man, each day you are less a boy and more a man. How much you have grown and changed. This has been a summer of new things for you and our family, I love how you embrace each one as they came along. As I look back on it now it seems like it’s been a year of changes. Some of them harder to understand then others, but you got through it. We got through it as a family.
POD: Hooking Nate Young

Today Violet had a special outing with her god mother, so little Nate came to our place for a visit. It was great to have the little guy around for the afternoon. He seemed really interested in the WiiU. Got to get him gaming young.
POD: Ready for the Season to Start

Today Violet had her hockey tryout skate. She was so excited to get out there and show off her skills for the league coaches. It took a little while for her to get used to the ice again, but before long she was skating like a pro. Jacob seemed a little disappointed that his league doesn’t hold a tryout skate. The season starts in a couple of weeks, and I think it’s going to be great, Watching both of our kids working hitting the ice each week working hard, and scoring goals.
POD: What is this Daddy?

Today Jacob asked me a question that I never really expected to hear. He held up todays picture of the day and asked, What’s this Daddy? I couldn’t help but laugh, we’ve all see the posts online saying our kids wouldn’t know what things were, I just didn’t expect it so soon. I asked him what he thought it was and he said it was a video tape. I think it’s a pretty good guess, I just have to show him what a real video tape looks like, if I can find one.
POD: Chess Lesson with Granddad

Today Jacob got a short chess lesson from my Dad. It’s the first of what we hope to be many lessons. Jacob really seems interested in learning to play chess and I’m so glad that my dad is able to teach him. I might have to keep an eye on these lessons, I might pick up a few pointers.
Dear Violet
All summer long I have watched you grow up, you are becoming so independent. Until something happens and you want your Daddy (or Mommy). Of course even when you want us, you aren’t always ready to tell us the real reasons. When you fell from the bouncy castle it was hours after you hurt your self that you would admit to us that you were in pain. Insisting even as we were driving to the hospital that your arm was fine. Of course now we know you broke your collar-bone and shoulder.
