Project 365-196:Tacos

image

One of the Jacob’s favorite meals is tacos, I think it’s because we let him put them together himself. A week doesn’t go by when he doesn’t ask for them. Of course  we don’t have them every week, so when we do it’s still kinda special. Tonight was one of those nights. Of course as I look over the picture I am reminded that food rarely looks as good in the picture as in real life.

Picnic at Heart lake

Last week we went to a picnic with Melissa’s mom family at Heart lake conservation area. I wrote of it last Saturday when I used a picture of a frog that one of the little boys had caught as my picture of the day. Today I took some time to go through the pictures and choose some to share. I will do the same for yesterday’s picnic sometime this week.

Project 365-195: Chasing the Ducks

DSC_0311

Today we packed up the kids, a couple of coolers, and headed out to the Toronto Island for a picnic with friends.  The kids seemed to like the ferry ride. When we got to the island we found some picnic tables and BBQ’d up some hot dogs. After the food the kids had some fun chasing the growing number of ducks around our picnic tables. It was good fun for the little ones. In our picture of the day, Jacob is telling Sofia and Violet not to chase the birds. Then he runs past them after the birds. In a day of great moments and with over 500 pictures on the two camera’s Melissa and I brought, this stood out as a great choice for Picture of the day. There is a lot more I could say about our day, including our brief trip to Centre Ville but that’ll have to wait. I’ll see about putting together something more with more of the photos in the next couple of days… Of course I should probably write-up last week picnic first. Perhaps tomorrow I’ll get a chance to catch up on some of my blogging.

Project 365-190: Trivia Night

image

Tonight was trivia night, a time to sit around the pub and use all that useless knowlege I’ve collected over the years. I have ever been great at trivia, I’ve had good and bad weeks. Ever since I stopped playing regularly I seem to have more bad. Though today we has a round that was perfect for me. The handout is my picture of the day. children’s book characters, they gave use the number and we had to supply the name. There was only a few that I didn’t know. Of course that included mine (#1 Captain Under-pants). We took that round 8 to 5 but it wasn’t enough. Our short-handed squad lost 67-63.

Project 365-187: Doctor for Two

In an effort to limit our trips to the doctors we scheduled Violet’s 18 Month appointment and Jacob’s 4 year appointment for the same day.  It sounded like a good plan, but with both kids getting needles and a full waiting room it didn’t turn out that great. I don’t think we’d do that again, and given there age differences I doubt we could. Both kids did great but with the long wait and the needles at the end we were glad to get out of there.

Project 365-182: Lets go to the movies

Today we finally found time to head out to the theaters to watch Toy Story 3. They way it work out it was a boys afternoon at the theatre, with Melissa and Violet heading off to the Gym. Jacob was very excited to see Toy Story 3 and it was hard to get him to pose for a picture in front of the theatre.

The movie it’s was great, I’m not sure if it’s better or worse than the original or the first sequel, but it was a great way to come back to the story. If anything the problem was to many interesting characters that we couldn’t really get to know any of the new toys. On a more somber thought, seeing the Toys locked in the toy-box desperately trying to have Andy play with them again was a sad reminder of the loss of innocence all kids go through as they grow up. I found myself wondering if when Jacob is ready to go off to college if he’d have any of his childhood toys. Maybe his Woody or Buzz. Perhaps Coco will last through the years.
