Today Jacob came home with a surprise in his school bag, he received a Good Character Award. It was nice to see, Jacob had some separation anxiety when he started in his SK class. This award is a sign that he’s working passed it and has started to thrive in the new class. It has been a bit of a challenge at times, watching him struggle, not knowing how to help. Melissa and I did what we could and it’s great to see that it’s working.

Project 365-286: Bed Time Lego
Tonight before Jacob went to bed he wanted to build something. So we pulled out his Lego draw and build a castle, inner tower, Wall and a couple of out buildings. It was a lot of fun. It’s so nice to be able to sit and play with my little guy. He’s growing up so fast, and I really don’t want to miss the little moments. I wonder what type of moments I will share with Violet? Will she want to build a castle? Have a tea party? I’m sure I’ll find out much to quickly.
Project 365-285: Another round of Homework
Today Jacob came home from school with a bunch of exercises for him to do at home. There are 4 sheets each with a different letter for him to practice writing. Part of me things it’s strange that a kindergartener is getting homework but another part is glad, especially when I watch Melissa sit with out still man and work on it. I just seems like a perfect little moment.

Project 365-284: Giving of thanks
Today was Thanksgiving day so our family had a small dinner. It was a great success. There were a lot of things we did a little differently this year. The first was we backed our own Apple pie for desert, with Violet’s nut allergies we just don’t trust most bakeries. We also tried a new turkey, a pre-stuffed bake from frozen, from Lilydale. Everything was a big success. And though the pre-stuffed bird seems unnatural it turned out so good and was so much easier to make it’s hard not to see us getting it again.
On moment that stood out for me tonight was after dinner and dessert I asked Jacob what he was thankful for. He thought about it for a moment then said he had to go up to his room to check. I was thinking he’d pick his current favourite toy, or maybe his new magnetic letters. Instead he came back down stairs with his Monkey Coco and said he was thankful for love. If was so very sweet and unexpected.
Project 365-282: Party Girl
Today we spent the afternoon at a friends daughters first birthday party. It was a great day for a party and the kids even got a chance to play in the backyard. Not something usually expected for an October party.
Project 365-281: Thanksgiving Art
Today Jacob brought home some of his artwork from Kindergarten. It seemed like only yesterday he was off to his first day of pre-school, and now he’s making turkeys. The time just seems to be flying by so fast. Even though there have been rough times with Jacob’s school, I’m so proud of how my little guy is handling it. I know that once he gets used to his SK class everything will be alright.

Project 365-277: Young Artist
Today we had another visit to the Asthma clinic. While waiting for our turn Jacob showed off his artistic side, drawing a couple of pictures, first with Mommy, Daddy and Chloe. Then one of Violet and him. I was quite impressed with the hands and feet. Not to mention that he included names of the people he drew.
Project 365-276: Taking it off the table
Over the last couple of weeks Melissa and I have wanted to reorganize Jacob room. So this weekend we went at it. One casualty of the reorganization was his Train table, its been relegated to storage for a while. That doesn’t mean no trains, in fact today Jacob mad a large track that stretched across his room and under his bed.
