Ever since I took Violet to watch Jacob skating I’ve known she’s wanted on the Ice. When ever I let her walk around the rink she would always right to the gate to get onto the ice (Project 365-192: Let me onto the ice… and Project 365-290: Let me in..). Today she got the chance and she loved it. The whole family went with Nana and Papa to the Colonel Sam Smith Ice Trail for an afternoon of skating. Both kids were excited to be skating outside for the fist time. Violet do amazing for her first time. She kept wanted to if anything she was to excited and was trying to be off and skating before she was stable on her feet. I’m sure after a few more times she’ll be skating circles around me. I must admit, I really enjoyed skating around the figure eight. I think perhaps I should get out on the ice more this winter, and maybe I could keep up with the kids as they learn to skate.
This evening after dinner I asked the kids what they wanted to do, and what they wanted was to play with the camp out in the living room. So the Crazy Forts came out and we put together a tent. Today’s picture is of the kids playing in the tent, minus the blanket. We had a good time building and playing to-night, it reminded me how much fun Crazy Forts can be.
Today we took the kids, Jacob, Violet and Liam to the Santa experience at Sherway Gardens. It’s a yearly event were the kids sing songs and listen to a story with the big man. We try to go every year, seeing the joy on the kids faces makes it worth the long lines to get tickets.
With the weather turning cold afternoon’s in the park are becoming less common. In fact with the rain we had this morning I didn’t think we’d have time in the park at all today, but on the way back from the corner store the kids convinced me to head over to the big park so they could play. While they played I watched and snapped a few pictures. It was great that we had that time outside today, of course they both are waiting for snow. I think this year Violet will really love playing in the snow, but till it’s here I’m glad to have time outside.
Today at hockey it was Jacob’s turn to be Goalie. Jacob was very excited about being Goalie, until he got into all the equipment. After a little coaxing he headed out onto the ice and tried his best for the entire game. It was great to watch him.
This morning the kids came down stairs to find our Advent calendar up and holding a chocolate treat. I love that each morning between now and Christmas that the kids will have a little something to celebrate the season. With out calendar it doesn’t have to be chocolate each day, one day the kids might find a little toy in there.
Today the kinds sat down at the dinner table to write their letters to Santa. Jacob worked very hard on his letter. As always when I watch him write it just amazes me how good his penmanship is getting. There are a few backward e’s in there but every time I look he he’s skills seemed to improve by leaps and bounds. Little Violet really wanted to write Santa, but he’s not quite ready. So while Jacob worked on his letter Violet ‘coloured’ hers.
After a day of feeling like I was going to vomit, it was nice to be able to sit down to dinner with the kids and my Mom. Our dinner was pork chops, mashed potatoes and veggies. The food look and tasted so good I thought I should share it as my picture of the day.
It was a long day, starting the day with Violet’s ballet class. Followed with Jacob’s hockey and ended it off with a trip down-town with the kids. I had hoped to share some of the Ballet or Hockey video I took, but tonight I just haven’t found the time to get it ready for the blog. So we’ll settle for this picture of Violet showing off her sticker from her class.
