In honor of the Toronto Blue Jays opening the baseball season today, I pulled out Jacobs Kids Club Jersey and snapped this picture. It’s not the best picture but sometimes that doesn’t matter. Though Jacob didn’t really watch the game with me, he did seem interested in going to a game soon.
It’s strange in a year when the Jays winning as many as they lose would be considered a big success I’m quite excited by the start of the season. I think it’s because these players are the future, though this team might not compete for the playoffs in a few years a lot of these players (hopefully) will.

Jacob sits on the patio at Nana’s house enjoying a chocolate bunny. It was a great Easter spent with Family.

Today Jacob went for his tux fitting. In just 3 weeks his Nana and Papa are getting married and he’s going to be the ring bearer. Violet could be the flower girl, if she can get the hang of the walking thing.

Today when I got home from work, I got the kids coats and shoes on and grabbed some meat from my freezer and headed outside. It was Violet’s first trip to the playground since she has begun feeling somewhat comfortable on her feet. She’s not really ready to go running with the other kids but she did her best to get into the fun. The only hard part about the trip to the playground was having to take her back with me every time I checked on the BBQ.

Violet is allergic to nuts, all nuts. We were pretty sure about peanuts yesterday; but today she had a visit to an allergists and we got confirmation. It seems so unfair. She’s such a little girl and to think she will never peanut butter or chocolate covered almonds. It’s also scary, the doctor gave us a prescription for 4 EpiPen so we can have one everywhere Violet goes regularly.
When I slipped into her room to check on her I could help but wonder how do I protect her from nuts. The doctor said that most of the rashes we’ve observed were probably caused by someone who’d been in contact with a nut that day. How do you protect against that?

On mornings when I get up with the kids and get them breakfast. breakfast is becoming a big deal for Jacob, every morning he picks out what he wants and insists on sitting next to Violet and I. This morning he took it to a different level. Today he wanted to feed violet and he wouldn’t take no for an answer. So I grabbed the camera and gave him the spoon. It took only a single shot to capture the moment, which is rare for me, usually I find myself going through 10 or 20 to find the one picture of the day. Today there was just 1.

Today when I told Jacob that we’d be going to Nana and Papa’s house after his ‘rest’ he said, ‘The first thing I’m going to do at Nana’s house is play.’ If was very cute, of course the first thing he did when we got there was play, but he also took a minute to bring some toys from the back room to the living room where Violet was sitting with Papa. Of course it wasn’t long before he asked Papa to set up his train set. It became a family affair with even Violet helping.

As I was loading the family into the car tonight, before heading out to run a bunch of errands I snapped this picture. She really had fun standing on the driver’s seat holding on to the wheel. What is it with kids and the driver seat? Jacob loves sitting there pretending to drive to.

With the spring weather we’ve been having it’s harder and harder to spend the entire day inside. Today I was working from home and when I realised that we were out of milk, I had the perfect excuse take the kids out for a walk. On the way back we stopped at some of the local playgrounds. Violet really enjoyed the slide, and the swings.
It’s fun watching the excitement as in her face as Violet tries new things. I remember Jacob’s first summer and how much fun we had and I can’t wait till the weather is warmer and we can go on family outings to the Toronto Zoo, Ontario Place, or even just a walk by the lake.

Tonight was Spaghetti night, and boy did Violet seem to enjoy it. She hasn’t quite got the hang of using the spoon but she’s trying. One thing is certain she wants to be feeding herself. Now if she’d only get to walking on her own.
