Twinkle Twinkle–Little Singers

Yesterday Melissa captured this video of Violet singing Twinkle Twinkle. Its great because it shows a side of her that she doesn’t often show to people when she first meets them.

When my mom watched the video she reminded me that we had a video of Jacob singling Twinkle Twinkle when he was around the same age. So I dug up the video. Jacob’s was about 2 months older than Violet is now. It’s amazing to see the similarities and difference between the two of them. One thing I am sure about, I love being able to look back and see how much Jacob has grown. I think I’ll be taking more video in the weeks and months to come.

POD: Homework Anyone

Today before school Jacob finished up his snuggle up and read homework. I was really impressed at how hard he worked at it. First writing out the titles and then drawing the pictures. When it came time for him to do the sentence, he figured out what he wanted to say and spelled out each word by himself. It was impressive. It was great to see. It seems where ever I look he’s exploring words and language.  Even before bed last night the two of use read a level 3 Step Into Reading book together. We took turns on the pages. I love to watch him sound through complicated words. It makes me so proud.

Tonight I ran out to the Real Canadian Supper store to pick up a few thing. It’s a bit out-of-the-way but we needed Sun Butter and we haven’t seen it in any of the closer super markets. So I found myself walking down the organic aisle looking at the different spreads. They had organic peanut butter, Almond Butter, and of course the sun butter I had come for Sunbutter Sunflower Seed Spread. As I looked I was excited to see another brand of Sunflowers Seed Butter. I thought about getting it, but as I was putting in the cart I thought I’d just take a pick at the label. There it was in Bold letters May contain traces of peanuts or other nuts and seeds. My first thought was that’s just wrong. Why would you want Sunflower spread with nuts. Of course when you look at the name of the company, Nuts To You nut butters, it’s clear that they are about providing organic Nut bet spreads. Though I probably wouldn’t be buying Sun Flower Seed spreads if it wasn’t for Violet’s allergy I guess some people would like it, but for me it’s just another product that we’ll be avoiding.
