Today Melissa and I took the kids on a nature walk/geo cache adventure. While we walked we got a lot of great pictures. One of my favourites, is this of the three of them looking out from behind a tree. It was really fun watching as Violet and Jacob watch with wonder as we walked along the nature trail. Of course it was the promise of juice box and fruit snacks that kept them going.
Today we began our vacation, first with a nice breakfast out. Then Papa hooked the trailer and away we went. It took half the day to reach our campsite, but the kids were great during the long drive. As I sit here next to the fire writing up todays POD, I’m so glad to have these few days away with the family.
As you can see from today’s picture of the day, we’re all packed up and ready to head out on our vacation. Tomorrow morning we’ll climb into Nana and Papa’s van and head down to Pennsylvania for some camping, and a little bit of shopping. Both of the kids are very excited about our camping trip, and I must admit that I am quite excited to be getting away from the city, even if it is for only 5 days.
Recently when ever we’re outside Jacob wants to show us his ‘Amazing Trick’. Some times they are pretty ordinary, other times they surprise me. Today’s surprised me. He walked along the cement, without touching the wood chips in the garden, and then jump over the garden to the side-walk, twice. That is an amazing trick!
Today’s picture is an attempt to show off the nice braid my mom put in Violets hair today. It was fun to watch my mom try to get her to stand still long enough to finish them. In the end it was that she was doing her hair liked Tangled that had Violet standing, mostly still. Of course when it came time for me to try to get a photo I was on my own.
Today Melissa took the kids on an adventure down-town to pick up our passports for our up coming vacation. She took today’s picture at the passport office. The three of them seemed to have a good time on their outing.
Today we strapped Violets car seat into Nana and Papa’s van in preparation for our family camping trip next week. We did it a week early because we wanted to get it in securely and on a more up-right position then it has been in the van. We really want our little girl to be comfortable during the 5 hour drive.
When we signed Jacob up for T-Ball one of the dates we were looking forward to was the trip to the Blue Jays game. As the date approached it became clear that with Melissa working, I either needed to find a baby sitter or take Violet with me. I decided to be brave and order her a ticket. I have to say that she did really well. He had some minor incidents, but over all it was a great day out for the three of us.
Today Melissa took the kids out to the local splash pad to beat the heat. While there Violet spread-out her towel to ‘Sun Bathe’. As you can see in the picture, I don’t think she has it figured out yet. Plus Melissa always covers the kids with SPF-60 sunblock when they head out to the splash pad, so I don’t think she;ll be getting much of a tan.
Today was T-Ball day, but instead of loading the kids in the car and heading off to the game. I pulled out the Trailer, hooked it up to the old bike that I got from Danny and headed out. It took a little longer then I thought, but both the kids loved the ride, so it was well worth it.
