POD: Blue Jays Game

Tonight I got down to the Rogers Centre for the first time this season. To see the Blue Jays play the Baltimore Orioles.  It was quite a game. After each team scored 1 run in the first it stayed that way into the 7th when the Toronto reliever gave up a solo home run. The next inning they had back to back homers stretching the lead to 4-1. Thankfully, in the bottom of the 9th, the Jays bats came alive and they tied the game at 4 forcing extra innings. Unlike the Yankee game Wednesday (A lose in the 13th inning), the Jays won it in the 10th. It was a great game.

Today I decided to do something different for my picture of the day. Today I have taken a picture from social media. I just knew I nothing I took today captured the monumental events of the day as well as this picture from the Sportsnet Photographer Chris Young. In cause you don’t know what happened, let me explain. Today the Toronto Blue Jays won their American League Division Series in dramatic fashion. It was the most exciting game of baseball I’ve ever seen. After a crazy top of the 7th that saw the Rangers take the lead, the Jays came storming back first tying the game then taking a commanding lead off the bat of Jose Bautista; Seen in the picture of the day flipping his bat away after watching the ball leave the park.

Today I headed down to the ball park to watch the Blue Jays play their last home game of the regular season. It was a great game, with the Josh Donaldson hitting a solo home run in bottom of the ninth for the win. It’s been a great season, and though I didn’t get to as many games as I hopped to, it’s been amazing to be able to watch the games live and feel the excitement of the crown. Go Jays Go

I spent this afternoon sitting in the sun at the Rogers Centre watching the Blue Jays win their 78th game of the year, to maintain their 1.5 game lead on the Yankees in the American League East. It was great to be at the game with 46,000+ other fans, and that we could be seeing playoff baseball in this city for the first time since they won it all back to back in 92-93. It’s been just amazing and as a long time fan, regardless of their record, it’s great to see games that matter in september.
