Tonight was Violet’s first hockey school after regular school and while it was a long day, she tried hard and did a great job.

Today the kids headed back to school. Violet enters the first grade and Jacob moves on to the fourth. Time seems to be flying by for my little ones. The best news of the day was that Violet is in a 1/2 split, instead of the SK/1 we feared all summer.

Today was the last day of the summer. It has been a great summer with lots of fun activities. It do was a bit more laid back, with our little family having a relaxing day wrapping up the last things we needed to do before school starts tomorrow. Of course we found some time to enjoy the warm weather, with a trip to a park where I captured today’s picture of the day.

I spent this afternoon sitting in the sun at the Rogers Centre watching the Blue Jays win their 78th game of the year, to maintain their 1.5 game lead on the Yankees in the American League East. It was great to be at the game with 46,000+ other fans, and that we could be seeing playoff baseball in this city for the first time since they won it all back to back in 92-93. It’s been just amazing and as a long time fan, regardless of their record, it’s great to see games that matter in september.

Today we headed down to the CNE for a day of family fun. It was hot and crowded but the kids seemed to enjoy the day. I didn’t manage t try the Spagetti and Meatball burger, but did have the Thanksgiving waffle.

Tonight I found myself sitting at Starbucks  looking into my laptop screen trying to decide what to work on. Instead of the usual coding project, I pulled up my blog and began working on a few blog posts I hope to post in the coming weeks. Of course I’ve tried to get the posts I worked on tonight posted for the last few months. Here is hoping that this time will be different. While sitting there writing I snapped today’s picture of the day.

Today Violet hit the ice for her first day of hockey school, in preparation for the coming hockey season. I can’t believe the summer is over and we’re back to hockey. Still it was amazing to see how well Violet was skating today. I think this is going to be her year for hockey.

Today was Violet’s last Soccer game of the summer. I captured today’s picture of the day before the game as the kids played.

Today I took Jacob and one of his school friends for a day of fun at Canada’s Wonderland. Most of the day was spent at the water park, but with Jacob measuring above 54 inches we had to make a stop at the DropZone a ride he’s wanted to go on all summer, but had never been quite tall enough.
