As the we continue to gear up for the fall season of activities we’re seeing more and more overlap. Today we had Hockey then Dance, usually we’ll be going the other way round. I couldn’t help but snap this picture as we headed out of the arena.

Tonight I managed to get down to the Rogers Centre for the some Baseball. I was early so I needed to get some dinner at the park. It wasn’t a cheap burger, but one of the few times I’ve gotten food at the ball park that I enjoyed and didn’t feel like I was being ripped off.

Tonight we have a picture of Jacob’s spelling words used in sentences.

With everything going on this last week I haven’t had an opportunity to share some pictures of the kid’s school work. This year Violet is in grade run, so it means home work. Her first homework was Spelling words. Each day she has a different task to do with the words. I chose to take a picture of her sentence, I’m just so impressed with how well she is printing. What’s even better is watching the two of them sitting at the table after school both working on their homework. Perhaps in the coming weeks I can capture that as my picture of the day.

Today we said good-bye to Melissa’s dad. Funerals are always hard, but harder when it’s someone so close. I was amazed at how strong Melissa was throughout the process, and her eulogy brought a tear and a smile to every one there.  It’s a hard day to capture for my picture of the day. There are so many personal moments that don’t feel right to photograph let alone post on the internet. So when I was closing up the party room where the reception was held and looked out across the city and saw the beautify setting sun I knew how to remember the day. As we remember and mourn, we must remember that tomorrow there will be a new sun rise to light the day.

Tonight we had our last visit with Melissa’s dad. Tomorrow morning we say good-bye for the last time. It is a hard time, made easier with friends and family. Thank you to all who came tonight and will come tomorrow.

Today Nate celebrated his 5th birthday.  There are some many things I want to say, but the words aren’t coming so I’ll end today’s post with a simple; Happy Birthday Nate.

You can tell the winter is coming as my blog gets over taken with kids hockey pictures. Today we have Violet at her Tyke evaluation skate.

With everything else going on the week if was easy to forget that it was also the kids first week of school. So tonight we have a picture of the kids new agendas. VTO Jacob it’s old news, but Violet was so excited to have am agenda of her own.

A couple of nights ago I headed out to pick up a few last-minute lunch supplies for the kids. While there I bought Melissa some roses to give her something pretty to wake up too. Little did I know how hard the next few days would be for he. I hope my little surprise brought some comfort during this hard time.
