Violet tries out one of Jacobs favourite new toys. She didn’t quite get it, but it was fun to watch her try. Jacob was surprisingly ok with her playing with it. Of course it was a pretty short little photo shoot, there is only so long I could keep Jacob away from his toy. But it was a fun moment, and I was really glad that Jacob was able to share, even though it was only for a few minutes.

Project 365-009: Tired Baby
This morning was a busy morning. We had Jacob’s Swimming a visit with Melissa’s dad and then a trip to nofrills to get some groceries. It proved just a little to much for Violet. About half way through nofrills she couldn’t take it any more and passed out. It was suck a cute moment, we had to capture it for Project 365.
Project 365-008: Duelling Addictions
Tonight I decided to take a picture of two sides of my biggest vice. I drink way to much pop, I’ve moved to diet but I don’t think that’s really better for me. To make it worse Pepsi has introduced Pepsi Max, with more Caffeine and Ginseng turning me from my traditional Coke. It seems wrong that the drink I choose first now is Pepsi, but it is. Of course I really should be cutting back my caffeine and Pepsi Max is definitely not the way to do that. Oh well we’re all allowed one vice, aren’t we?
100 Days of Blogging
Today is a big day for my personal blog. I have posted everyday for the last 100 days. That’s something in my 4 yours of blogging I have never managed before. I had done a month here or there, but never 100 days, that’s over three months. That’s something I’m proud of. To be fair not all my posts were great, but every day I managed to sit down and find something to post. For me this is the hardest thing about blogging, finding something to write about. That’s one of the great surprises I’ve found with the 365 Challenge, Once I have my picture taken I have something to write about every day. One casualty of Project 365 is Wordless Wednesday. It seems silly to have a post dedicated to just pictures when I’ll be posting a new picture every day.
Back in December when I first figured out when I’d reach the 100th day of posting I planned on scaling back my posts. Move to an easier 3 or 4 posts a week, but today I know that’s not what is going to happen. My plan is to have 12 or more posts a week. What that’ll mean for my readers is I’ll have two types of posts, my regular posts and my Project 365 Posts. My Regular posts will go online Monday through Friday between 8am and 10am. The Project 365 posts will go up between 9pm and midnight every day of the week. I might post regular posts on the weekends too, but they aren’t in the plan. I’m hoping this will keep me posting going forward and prevent this from just being a blog for my Project 365 posts.
Project 365-007: An Evening With Trains
![]()
Today while sitting downstairs I heard a little voice call, ‘Daddy I need your help’. So I went up to see what my little guy wanted. He wanted to do his train set in a different way, using the Firehouse. So I spent an enjoy able evening with my son playing trains. We used a lot of the pieces he got for Christmas to put his track together in a way similar to how it looked on the box, but with our own touches. It’s a great way to spend an evening. The train table is one of Jacob’s favourite toys, it can be The Island of Sodor when he’s playing Thomas and Friends, or its the track to the North Pole when he’s playing Polar Express. It’s a lot of fun for Jacob, Me and even Violet who likes to stand at the side and grab trains.
Project 365-006: Playground in Winter
On my way to work this morning I was waiting for the bus and looked into the park and thought it look so different with the layer of snow over it. It seemed like a perfect shot for today’s Picture. I had other options for pictures for day, I took a couple of nice ones at Skating tonight, but there is something about this one that I thought I should share. It’s just different then the ones I have been using so far this week. So far I’m really enjoying the challenge of snapping a picture every day.
I know that I haven’t really been blogging this week, just posting my Project 365 images, the reason for this is simple. I’m trying to get the hang of this Project 365 thing and have been taking a bit of a break from regular blogging. That brake will be ending in the next couple of days, I’m not sure if it will be tomorrow, monday or something in between but it is coming. I will go back to regular posts on top of the Project 365, so stay tuned.
Project 365-005: Another Building Toy
Tonight Jacob and I did another building project. We put together the Marble Toy that we got him for Christmas. It’s a lot of fun, though I think he might be a little young for it. He likes it but he’s more into watching the marble then putting it together. I’m sure that as he grows and we play with it more he’ll get more interested in putting it together. For now, it’s more of a daddy toy and that is fun too.
Project 365-004: First day of School
Today Jacob started pre-school. So at 10 to 9 this morning we headed out in the snow to walk to the school. He was very excited about starting school today, though the thought of making foot prints in the snow kept him walking in the cold. Dropping him off went without a hitch, he almost didn’t even say good bye to me. The day went great and Jacob is really looking forward to his next class on Friday. I was relieved that the pickup went without a hitch. The parents wait outside and the teachers bring the kids out to us, and after waiting a little while, he came out all smiles. I was worried he wouldn’t want to leave like at our Interview in December. I’m really glad he’s in the Play to Learn program, I think it will be great for him.
Project 365-003: Let’s have some Lunch
Looking forward to a years milestones
January will be a month of Milestones for our little family. First we have Jacob starting Pre-School tomorrow and registration for Kindergarten. I thought I had more time before I had to think about sending him off to school, but it seems that it’s all happening all at once. Of course his pre-school is only 2 days a week and though registration starts tomorrow he doesn’t start school till the fall. Follow that up with Violet’s first birthday and it’s clearly a big month for our little family. It seems like they are growing up so fast, but then that’s what it means to be a parent. To watch your kids grow and change. Every month has a new milestone, a new first and new challenges.
Finding the words to describe the those moments, the Joy, Excitement, and fear is never easy. It’s the reason I started to blog, I wanted share the moments of Fatherhood. In an attempt to keep posting I expanded to include some of my other interests but at the heart this is a place to talk about fatherhood. In this new year I’ll try to remember that, I’ll try to write more about the the time I spend with my children and my family. Try and not let this become just a place of geeky posts. I will remember that though they might be the harder posts to write they are worth writing. I’m still working out what it’ll mean for my blog to try and focus more on fatherhood, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out and when I do, I’ll share it.
