Photo Fatigue

I had looked forward to having my new phone for so many reasons. One of them was that it would make it easier to do Project 365. So far its been mixed. Yes its nice that I can write my post right after I snap the picture. Its been great for blogging in general but over the last few days I’m finding it becoming harder to find a moment to capture. When I do I find one I’m writing less and less about it. I think the task of taking 365 pictures is starting to get to me, and I’m not even a third of the way into it.

As I write this I’m trying to figure out why I am feeling this fatigue. What is the source of my block, is it the pictures themselves or is it the writeup I’ve tried to include each day. Is it really just writers block? If so how do you get past writers block?

Really there are more questions than answers, though I wonder if yesterdays post might contain part of  the answer. Yesterdays post was of two Photos on display at Jane Station, then and now. I have seen them in at least one other station and I want to try to capture them and share them on my blog. This challenge of tracking them all down,  has me think about the Photo of the day more than I have for weeks. Perhaps that is the solution, to challenge myself. In that end I will ask my readers what sorts of photos should I take for Project 365?

Project 365-107: Reminding us of the Past

Recently the TTC has put up some pictures of in Jane of what it looked like before the subway and what it looks like now.  This morning as I walked past on my way to the office I saw it and thought, that might make a good picture, and here it is. I know that they have it in at least one other station and I hope that they have done it in more. My goal now is to find them and capture them. Though Perhaps I’ll include close ups of each images…

Update: Added close ups

Introducing New Series: Mobile Apps

I find it strange that the night I brought my new phone home I couldn’t even use it as a phone. A mixup with my new sim card ment I was limited to WiFi connectivity. Though frustrating it really didn’t affect what I wanted to do with it that first night. When it comes right down to it my Milestone isn’t about having a phone at all its about having a platform to run applications and interact with the world and by world I mean internet. The biggest challenge any competitor to the iPhone has is not the OS, Android 2.0 is as good, and in some was better than iPhone OS. A phone like the Milestone delivers an experience that rivals the iPhone and in some areas, like the Hardware keyboard,  surpasses it. That said the iPhone is the king of the app, with more than 140,000. Android by comparison has  just over 45,000. That’s quite a difference, though in both cases a small percentage are worth installing. What matters to users is that the apps they use or want to use be available for their platform of choice.

So I am starting a series of posts about Mobile Apps. Mostly for Android but I am going to try to include some iPhone/iPod Touch apps. I also want to compare the same application on the different platforms, that will probably have to wait till Melissa gets her iPhone or I bite the built and upgrade her Touch.  I’m planing on writing up an app a week, so stay tuned for the first installment next week.

Project 365-104: Action Shot

Today we have a picture of Jacob running by while I bbq’d some chicken for dinner. It was a strange little moment, I had pulled my phone out to try to get a picture of my little guy but he wouldn’t stand still. At first I didn’t think I got anything worth keeping, but after looking over the results I thought it was an interesting photo. So here it is, what do you think?

Project 365-103: Hitting the Ice

Today Jacob start started his first skating session at Canlan Ice Sports Skating Academy. It’s the first time he’s skating without me or Papa. It’s just him on the ices with his classmates and teachers. His first lesson went great. He listened to the teachers and participated in the different activities. I didn’t get any pictures of him on the ice today, but I hope to get some in the weeks to come.
