POD: Lets play Daddy

2011-01-19_08-37-15_722_Toronto

This morning Jacob came into our bedroom all excited, usually that would mean he got into something he shouldn’t have. Today it was a little different. This morning he’d setup our Whoville-opoly and wanted to play. To be fair, we played last night after Violet went to bed, and I had left the box out overnight. But to come down and see the game out and ready to play was quite impressive. Unfortunately we didn’t have a chance to play as Violet was waking up and all the little pieces would be to tempting for her to snack on. So we packed it up, hopefully we’ll find time to play one night when Melissa is around.

POD: Getting Organized

2011-01-17_22-35-08_716_Toronto

Even with all the preparations for Violet’s 2 birthday party we found time to re-organize one of our storage closets. With the redecorating in our living room we have some new options for our storage rooms. It started with the removal of our old baby stuff, given to friends who are expecting their first child in June. With a little hard work and some help from my mother we managed re-organize it for storing some of the extra kids stuff that we want to keep but don’t have room for elsewhere. Now all we have to do is tackle the other storage room. Perhaps that’ll be a Job for next weekend.

Mobile Mondays: RunKeeper

CAP201101171553

CAP2011011715511Todays app is one that has help keep me interested in running. When I started last my I made sure to track all my runs, and RunKeeper is how I did it. It’s that tracking and being able to see my progress that helped get me out there day after day even when my body protested. What’s been great is as my running has improved so has RunKeeper. RunKeeper started as an iPhone app and later moved to android, as such the android version has lagged behind the iPhone version for features. Though I’m happy to say Android has almost caught up. I have looked at the iPhone version but have only really used the Android Application.

RunKeeper uses the GPS on your phone to track your outdoor actives and can provide audio feed back in real-time. With both pre-set interval announcements through the Coaching system or just regular updates of time and distance traveled. In the latest version you can even enter your indoor workouts right in the Android application, it’s been available on the iPhone and website for a while now. This allows you to track workouts on treadmill, elliptical, Stationary Bike and even Rowing Machines.

POD: Party Prep: Trays of Goodness

2011-01-15_21-35-22_516

Tomorrow we celebrate Violet’s second birthday, today we went out to pick up the last few things we needed. Our quest for Veggie and Fruit trays failed, Costco had none, and Sobey’s seemed over priced. So we picked up fresh veggies and fruit and Melissa made her own.  So for my Picture today I thought I’d show off her work.

POD: New Clothes

2011-01-12_22-46-47_116_Toronto

Last week Melissa placed an order online from the Gap and Old Navy with a co-worker. Today the clothes arrived, she picked up 4 T-Shirts and plus one long-sleeved shirt plus a new vest. All that cost around $50, the vest alone usually sales for $80 so it was a pretty good deal. Plus I really like what she picked out. I also like the fact that I didn’t need to spend any time shopping to get themWinking smile

POD: Growing up

2011-01-11_20-28-16_254

This afternoon while Violet was supposed to be napping she decided to climb out of her crib. I guess she picked up some tricks from Jacob climbing into her crib for their morning picnic. So we were left with a couple of choices, first we leave it and hope that if she tries to climb out again she doesn’t hurt herself in the process. They second was to take the side of the crib and give her the freedom to get out of bed. Of course this adds some trouble at bed time, as she resists going to sleep. Our first night went pretty well, though I ended up having to sit next to her bed till she fell asleep. With Jacob I had to do that for 3 or 4 nights, it’ll be interesting to see how long Violet takes to get used to bed.
