Today was my day at home, and that ment a trip to the pool for Jacob’s swimming lessons. Following Melissa’s advice I brought the wagon, though at different times during our walk down both kids pulled the wagon. For our picture today we have Violet trying hard to pull Jacob by herself. She was doing a good job until we hit the pothole in the school parking lot and she needed a bit of help. I was amused by the fact that on the there they were out of the wagon more than in it. Of course that changed on the way home.

POD: Fountain

It seems that the kids and I have a new evening routeen for the nights that Melissa works during the evening. We have dinner and then go for a walk. Today it was a walk and Ride with Jacob riding his bike while Violet and I walked. Of course as soon as we passed the small local fountain we had to stop. I even gave each of them a penny to make a wish with.

POD: Chore chart

For a while we’ve had a chart hanging on a wall with a bunch of chores that get checked off each day when there done. Jacob loves this chart, but for the longest time we just haven’t been following it. Well this weekend Jacob decided that he wanted to do it. Over the last few days we’ve done a bit of a fall clean up and Jacob joined in by setting up a list of chores on the board and doing them. He was very happy with him self so this morning he tweaked the list, and set about doing them. I didn’t prompt him once during the day, but as we were getting ready for bed we went to look at the list and it was complete.
Here’s today’s list:
- Get dressed
- Brush teeth
- Help with indoor chores
- Do homework
- Say please and thank you
- Clear table
- Get ready for bed

POD: Lakeshore Mardi Gras
Today the kids and I headed to the Lakeshore Mardi Gras, for some rides and fun. There weren’t many rides, but the kids really enjoyed it. While there we saw Nana and Papa, Violet even roped Papa to go on a ride with her.
POD: Hair cut

After talking about it for what feels like weeks, we finally took Jacob to get his hair cut. We decided to try a new place, and we were rewarded with a hair dresser who was patient and engaging with Jacob. What impressed me was that the people at a fancy hair salon was better at dealing with our kids then at any of the Melonhead we’ve taken are kids too. We’re thinking of heading back there with Violet in september to get her a trim, something she really wanted to do.

POD: T-Ball Awards
Today we wrapped up Jacob’s season of T-Ball, and with it we ended the crazy summer of sports for Jacob. It’s been a lot of fun, watching as Jacob got excited to head out to T-Ball twice a week. Just as I was looking forward to having some time off from running around to different activities, Jacob was enrolled into Hockey. Plus we started looking into some fall activities for Violet, to go with her weekly dance class.

POD: Where’s the Water

Today I found some time to take the kids to the local splash pad, I’ve captured them waiting for the water to come back on. We were out there when Melissa got home from work and it got Melissa and I talking about how great our summer has been. Whats great is how much we are doing as a family, from our Camping trip, to evenings at the local pool. It’s been a great summer and I will be sad when it ends in a few weeks. Till then we have lots of fun family adventures planned and I intent to enjoy each of them to the fullest.
