Today Jacob has an extra day of skating. Today all the other Tykes skated for the house league coaches, so the four teams are have a similar talent level. Watching Jacob skate today with all the other ‘Tykes’ was great, he really seems to hold his own. I’m so glad we put him in the Future Stars program, it’s really helped his skating.

Today after our morning Future Stars and a walk through the local street festival we returned home and Jacob did some homework. It’s amazing him to watch him work through both the language and number problems. His writing is getting so much better and it seems like every other day he’s picking up a new math skill.

Today I headed out of the office to find it was pouring rain and while I walked through the rain to the subway I saw leaves floating down the gutter. It looked kinda and neat, and with the end of summer a few days ago it seemed like a creative way to show the change of seasons.

Back in march when I was coming off a disappointing winter of running, I signed up for the for my first Race (First Race). In fact at the time I signed up for 3 races, a 5k, 10k and my first Half Marathon. As we switch seasons from Summer to fall, I realise that I didn’t run nearly as much as I had hopped this summer. So now as the weather cools I want to get back out there and prepare to run my first full marathon next year. So once again I’m setting a goal. This time it’s the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. I’m running the Half-Marathon in memory of my aunt-in-law Debbie who passed away after battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia. So I’m hoping that my friends and family will support me and give to Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto:
Please support the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Charity Challenge.
This is also the kick off for my larger goal of running a Marathon in 2012. I’m still undecided of when that Marathon will be, so stay tuned. You can also expect to see a lot more posts about running in the coming weeks and months.

Today we have a picture of Violet and me taken outside. I was trying to get a nice picture of us and the clouds. It didn’t turn out as clear as I was hopping, but looking back I think it’s worth sharing.

Today was Jacob’s Future Stars skating, and after a bit of a rough start he had a great night of skating. He tried the entire time he was on the ice, listen to the instructors and just did great. Even after he got off the ice he was talking about getting back out there this weekend.

Today was meet the teacher night at Jacobs school. So I took the time to snap a few pictures of his art. It was a good visit, though after listening to his teachers today I’m glad we’re doing the extra work with him at home. I think the Math and Language sheets Melissa has been doing with him will complement the more play based lessons being taught at school.

After dinner tonight Jacob and I pulled out Monopoly and played a game. It’s something Jacob always seems to want to do. I’m thinking we’re going to have to make it a regular thing.

I captured this picture while Violet was colouring. se;s been walking around with that blanket around the house for the last couple of days. I’m not sure what it is about it that she likes, but they are almost inseparable.
