Today after school Jacob showed off his new-found abilities on the monkey bars. I was tempted to use a video of my picture of the day, but I got this great shot of him hanging there so I used it, and will include the video I took as a bonus.
Today Violet brought home her thanksgivings centre piece from Pre-School. She’s really looking forward to having it displayed during our family thanksgiving dinner this weekend.
Today the first collection of Violet’s art came back from preschool. So I pulled out my camera and took a few pictures and put them together with the great app PhotoGrid. She’s really into drawing and painting people right now.
Today we have a picture of Jacob’s homework. He’s getting so much better at adding spaces between words. I’m so proud of him. Tonight I just at and watched while he reviewed words with Mommy. It’s just so impressive.
This morning before heading out with Mommy for the day, Violet found time to begin to decorate her ‘Car’. Watching her was so cute that I had to take a picture. When I asked her what she was drawing she said wheels. I asked her why the car had some many wheels and she said so it wouldn’t fall over. That’s the logic of a three-year old for you.
This weekend there were 2 events that reminded me that I need to be doing more writing on my blog. The pictures and stories that go with them are great, but there should be more posts that focus things other than the Picture of the Day. Both events were anniversaries one marks 3 years of me posting everyday here on Geek with Kids. The other was the 40th anniversary of my elementary school Alpha alternative with a visit to the school Friday for a pre-reunion visit and the reunion itself on Saturday my weekend was filled with old friends and old memories. So how do these events remind me that I should be writing more you ask? They both highlighted in surprising ways that I used to write more. Let’s start with the anniversary of my daily posting, it may surprise some of my readers to know that I didn’t just post a picture everyday back then. I wrote a post each day, sure I had my Wordless Wednesday and some of my posts were pretty short, but back then I focused on writing. It wasn’t till Jan 01 2010, that I started my Project 365 that morphed into my Picture of the day. Continue reading “Looking back at my writing”
Before dinner the kids headed out to get some play time in. While playing Jacob was inspired to try to climb up to the top of a trellis. I wasn’t sure it was a good idea, so I walked over to him, and snapped a few pictures. By the time I got there, he’d reached as high as he was going to get, and was in fact stuck. He wanted me to help him get to the top, of course I helped him get down instead.
I had looked forward to today forward to today for months, a chance to go back to Alpha and see old friends. To look back and remember a school that shaped a lot of who I am today. It was great to go back, it was great to be able to take my kids back to see where I went to school, but it was two short. As I looked through the pictures I took I realized I didn’t take enough. But looking through the ones that I did take, I thought this would make the best picture of the day. I will share more of the pictures I took in the coming days, but for now I this will have to do.
Today was a day filled with memories of my childhood. Today was day one of Alpha’s 40th anniversary reunion. After work this morning I headed to the old school, to see what had change and see some old friends. We capped it off with a celebration at Dufferin Grove park, that included a Campfire, singalong, and roasted marshmallows. It was a great day, of course tomorrow is the big event at the school. I can’t wait to take the kids down to show them where I went to school when I was Jacob’s age.
Today the fall skating started both Jacob and Violet started skating classes at the MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence. It took her a little while to get used to be to out on the ice, but after a while she was getting it. Jacob’s class went well, he’s hockey skills are really improving. I can’t wait to see how he does during his first game this weekend.
